To help you quickly find and add relevant materials to quotes and work orders, ServiceM8 automatically archives inactive materials. This means more frequently used materials will appear first in your search results, although you will always be able to easily access archived materials.
ServiceM8 considers a material to be inactive if, in the past 12 months, it has not been added and saved to a new job card.
A material will not be automatically archived if:
- It is used in a service or job template
- It was saved to a new job card within the last 12 months
- It was created within the last 12 months
- It was imported within the last 12 months (including materials imported through a Supplier Price List)
No materials will be automatically archived if the total number of materials listed is less than 500.
What if I need to use archived materials?
Archived materials are easily available if you need them, whether you're using the Online Dashboard or the ServiceM8 app.
When you search for materials, you can see any archived materials that meet your search criteria by clicking the link at the bottom of the search.
If your search only returns archived materials, or if you have clicked the link to show archived results, the archived materials will display with a message that the search results are archived.
NOTE: If you add and save an archived material to a new job card, the material is immediately considered to be active again.
