In both the ServiceM8 mobile app and online, keywords can be used to automatically create links that allow you to reference Jobs, Staff, Web address, Email addresses and Phone Numbers.
Which types of links are supported?
ServiceM8 supports automatic links for:
- Jobs
- Staff
- Web Addresses
- Email Addresses
- Mobile Phone Numbers (ServiceM8 mobile app only)
Linking to Jobs
To create a link to a Job, type # followed by the Job Number in a Note, Task, Email or Activity Feed post.
Tapping the link will open the relevant Job Card. If a Job is already open, it will be saved & closed before the linked job is opened.
Tagging a Staff Member
To tag a Staff member, type @ followed by the Staff member's first name in a Note or Activity Feed post. When the item is saved, the tagged staff member will be notified, and they can tap the notification to open the Note or Activity Feed post.
In the mobile app, when you are viewing an item where a Staff member has been tagged, you can tap their name to open the Staff Message window.
If you have multiple staff with the same first name, you'll need to use full names instead, with any spaces removed (e.g. "@JohnSmith" to tag John Smith).
Linking to Web Addresses and Email Addresses
Any web address added to a Note, Task, Email, Staff Message or Activity Feed post will automatically be converted to a link, which can be tapped or clicked to open that website in a new window.
Any email address added to a Note, Task, or Email in a Job Diary will be converted into a link which can be tapped or clicked to compose a new email.
Linking to Phone Numbers
Any phone numbers added to a Note, Task, Email, Staff Message or Activity Feed post will automatically become tappable links in the ServiceM8 mobile app. Tap the phone number to start a phone call with the linked number.
