ServiceM8's data is very safe. ServiceM8's is built from the ground up using Amazon's Cloud Computing technology. Every ServiceM8 client's data is backed up every 24 hours to Amazon's S3 infrastructure in multiple locations around the world.
Amazon S3 provides a highly durable storage infrastructure designed for mission-critical and primary data storage. Data is redundantly stored on multiple devices across multiple facilities in an Amazon S3 Region. Once stored, Amazon S3 maintains the durability of your objects by quickly detecting and repairing any lost redundancy. Amazon S3 also regularly verifies the integrity of data stored using checksums. If corruption is detected, it is repaired using redundant data.
In addition, Amazon S3 calculates checksums on all network traffic to detect corruption of data packets when storing or retrieving data.
Amazon S3’s standard storage is:
- Backed with the Amazon S3 Service Level Agreement.
- Designed to provide 99.999999999% durability and 99.99% availability of data over a given year.
- Designed to sustain the concurrent loss of data in two facilities.
Amazon S3 provides further protection via Data Versioning. Data Versioning allows us to retrieve, and restore any historic daily backup of ServiceM8. So if there is an issue, not only can we restore your information from backups, we can restore from backup since the day you created your account.
Regulatory Compliance and additional peace of mind
You are also able to download a complete copy of your account data as a backup if required. This is for industries with regulatory/government requirements to keep a local/second backup of your information, or simply for additional peace of mind that you have a local copy of your ServiceM8 account. ServiceM8 provides a self-serve backup option which allows you to take a complete backup of your account as a zip file, including all client and job information, all notes, photos and file attachments back to your first job.
To backup your account, go to Settings -> Backup and follow the prompts.
