How to set the outbound Caller ID with ServiceM8 Phone

By default, your ServiceM8 Phone number is your outbound Caller ID i.e. this is the number clients will see when you call them through ServiceM8 Phone:

But, if your existing business number has become an asset with your clients and contacts, then you'll probably want to keep that number as your business's Caller ID. To do so, go to Settings > ServiceM8 Phone > Claim your number, and step through the process.

NOTE:

  • Special service numbers (like 1800 or 1300 numbers in Australia) are not supported, so you won't be able to set a number like this as the outgoing Caller ID for your business.
  • If you have an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system set up (e.g. Press 1 for new enquiries, Press 2 for...), the automated phone call to verify your number will be blocked from getting through to you. You will need to temporarily disable IVR to complete the number verification process.
  • Telstra numbers are not supported. See here to learn more.
