Businesses within the ServiceM8 Network send Network Requests to other businesses, either to request a quote or to request that the business perform work for them. If you have received an email or notification advising that you have received a Network Request, this article will guide you through the process of completing it.

Completing Network Requests using the ServiceM8 iOS app
NOTE: Make sure the ServiceM8 Network add-on is activated for your account before completing the request in your ServiceM8 iOS mobile app.
How to review and convert new Network Requests
When a business sends you a work request using ServiceM8 Network, it will appear in your Inbox. ServiceM8 Network Requests will have a Network icon and the message subject will start with Job #.
- Tap More > Inbox to go to the ServiceM8 Inbox.
- Tap the new Network Request to open it.
- Review the request.
- If you want to accept the request, tap Convert to Job.
- If you do not want to accept the request, tap Send Email and let the requester know. You can then delete the request from your ServiceM8 Inbox.
How to complete Network Requirements in a job card
When you convert a ServiceM8 Network Request to a job, a new job card will open. Note that the Network Request Reference Number becomes the PO Number of the new job.
TIP: Once a new job card has been created, all normal job management functions (scheduling, invoicing, etc.) remain the same. Keep in mind that the business that issued you the request will appear as the client, followed by the details of the job contact they've provided (which is likely to be their client).
In the job card, you will see the Job Description and a Network Request checklist containing all tasks to be completed. As you complete each task, tap the checklist item. The business that sent the request will see that you have completed the task.
- Photos: Tapping a checklist task containing the word "photo" will automatically open the camera. After taking the photo and tapping Save, the image is saved and the the checklist task is marked as completed.
- Forms: Tapping a checklist task to complete a Form will automatically open the Form. After completing all requirements, the Form is saved and the checklist task is marked as completed.
How to send Network Updates
You can send as many Network Updates, which are messages to the business who sent the Network Request, as needed during a job. You will receive a ServiceM8 notification and an email for any Network Update messages sent to you.
To send a Network Update:
- From the job card, tap the Network icon in the Job Action menu.
- Add a message and any required attachments.
- Tap Post.
TIP: Once all checklist tasks have been completed, it is a good practice to confirm completion with an update.
Completing Network Requests using the ServiceM8 app for Android
If you are a subcontractor and you do not have an Apple iPhone or iPad, you can use the ServiceM8 Lite Android app to manage work requests you've received from other businesses that use ServiceM8 and the ServiceM8 Network feature.
NOTE: Before completing Network Requests using the ServiceM8 Lite Android app, subcontractors will need to create a ServiceM8 account and subscribe to a plan (the Free plan is recommended), and enable the ServiceM8 Network Add-on. See Introduction to ServiceM8 Network for more information.
How to review and convert new Network Requests
Opening the app takes you directly to My Schedule, where you can view all of your Network Requests that have been converted into jobs. You can tap any job to open its job card.
To open your ServiceM8 Inbox and see notifications for new Network Requests, tap More, then tap Inbox. When a business sends you a work request using ServiceM8 Network, it will appear in your Inbox. ServiceM8 Network Requests will have a Network icon and the message subject will start with Job #.
Tap a message to open and review a Network Request. To accept the request, tap the Convert to Job button. The request will be converted into a job in your ServiceM8 account, and a new job card will open.
Note that the Network Request Reference Number becomes the PO Number of the new job.
How to complete Network Requirements in a job card
In the job card, you will see the Job Description and all associated tasks as a Network Request checklist. As you complete each task, tap the checklist item to mark it as completed. The business that sent the request will see that you have completed the task.

How to send Network Updates

NOTE: The ServiceM8 Network add-on must be activated for your account to be able to convert the Network Request to a job.

How to send Network Updates
To send a message to the contracting business, you can use the standard Email or SMS buttons at the top of the job card.
To send a message about a specific completed checklist task, or to add additional documentation to the task, hover over the task in the job's Diary and click the down arrow, then click Reply.
Completing Network Requests without a ServiceM8 account
If you've received an email from ServiceM8 about a Network Request for a quote or work order, you may be wondering what it's all about.
ServiceM8 is a job management app designed for trades and service businesses to streamline scheduling, quoting, job tracking, and invoicing. With an easy-to-use app, it helps businesses manage jobs and communicate with clients from anywhere, boosting efficiency and improving customer service. You can trial it for free, and subscription plans range from free to premium levels.
However - although recommended for the best experience possible, you do not need to sign up to ServiceM8 or install any software to receive and complete a ServiceM8 Network Request for a quote or a work order. All you need is a modern smartphone or web browser.
- From the notification email, click the View Quote Request or View Work Order Request link.
- Review the job description and requirements and, if you want to accept it, click Accept Job.
- Accepting the job will notify the sender of the Network Request (in this example, Smart Home Services), that you have accepted the job.
- The web-based job view will now open. Note that the top of the page will always include the contact information of the business that sent the Network Request, as well as the reference number for the job. You can also enter your mobile number if you want to receive notifications when the business sends you a message or attachment about this request.
The following elements may or may not be present, depending on what information was included in the Network Request.
- Job Description - overview of work to be completed
- Job Requirements - all tasks that must be done for Network Request to be considered complete
- Status - indicates if Network Request is in progress or completed
- Job Address - the location where the work is to be completed
- Navigate to Job - if you are using a supported device such as a modern smartphone, click to view location and initiate navigation
- Job Contact - who to contact to arrange access & discuss details (e.g. your client's client)
- Billing Details - who should be billed for the work (e.g. the business that sent you the request, in a subcontracting arrangement)
- Job Diary - can be used to share and record noteworthy issues or information, or send and receive messages and attachments with the business that sent the request, and to serve as a communication log
- When you have completed a Job Requirement, click it in the checklist to mark it as complete. The business that sent the request will see that you have completed the task.
- Photo or Document requirements will prompt you to select a file when you click the requirement.
- Form requirements will open a new window to complete a Form when you click the requirement.
- When all Job Requirements are complete, click Completed to change the job status and to let the business that sent the request know that you have completed the job.
