With the free Automation add-on enabled, ServiceM8 can send automatic booking confirmations and reminders of upcoming bookings to your clients. It's a simple, effective way to improve customer communications and decrease the administrative burden on your business. This article reviews:

Sending automatic booking confirmations
When you schedule a new booking from the job card, either through the Online Dashboard or the ServiceM8 mobile app, you can choose to send an automatic booking confirmation to your client.
(Booking Confirmation automation must be enabled. See How to set automatic booking confirmations.)
NOTE: Once you have turned on a booking confirmation for a job, subsequent jobs will default to sending booking confirmations until you turn it off again. If you do NOT want to send a booking confirmation, deselect Send Booking Confirmation before booking. You will then need to turn it back on for the next booking you want confirmed.
To send a booking confirmation from the Online Dashboard:
- From the job card, click Schedule.
- Upon scheduling the job, ensure Send Booking Confirmation is ticked.
- Click Save Booking.
To send a booking confirmation from the ServiceM8 mobile app:
- From the job card, tap Add Booking.
- Upon scheduling the job, tap Send Booking Confirmation.
- Tap Book.
Upon booking, the job diary will note the scheduled automation.
Sending automatic booking reminders
When you schedule a booking, either through the Online Dashboard or the ServiceM8 mobile app, you can apply a badge to send a reminder to clients before the scheduled booking. The timing of the reminder will depend on how you have set up the Booking Reminder automation.
(Booking Reminder automation must be enabled. See How to set automatic booking reminders.)
To send a booking reminder from the Online Dashboard:
- From the Badges pane on the right of the job card, scroll down and click Booking Reminder. The badge turns green upon activation.
- Click Save.
To send a booking reminder from the ServiceM8 mobile app:
- From the job card, scroll down to Job Details and tap Badges.
- Tap Booking Reminder.
- Tap Done.
The Booking Reminder badge will now appear as an activated badge on the job card.
Once the Booking Reminder badge is activated, the job diary will note the scheduled automation.
