What happens to existing jobs if I edit or remove a Job Category?
Learn how editing or removing a Job Category affects existing jobs in ServiceM8.
If you rename a Job Category, jobs already assigned to that category will show the new category name and colour. The jobs stay linked to the category record, rather than keeping a separate copy of the old category name.
If you remove a Job Category, existing jobs are not automatically changed to No Category. The category becomes inactive and will not be available as a normal option for new job assignments.
If you need old jobs to keep the old label for reporting or history, create a new Job Category for future jobs instead of renaming the existing one. Before removing an old category, consider whether you still need to filter or report on jobs that use it.
