# How to select new invoice or quote templates
> Learn how to select new invoice or quote templates in ServiceM8.
When you created your account, ServiceM8 set up default invoice and quote templates populated with your company details. However, every business is different. If the default templates don't meet your needs, it’s easy to select new ones! ServiceM8 offers a wide variety of invoice and quote template designs.
**To browse available invoice and quote templates:**
1. From the Online Dashboard, click **Settings**.

2. Click **Document Templates**.
3. On the left menu, select **Invoice** or **Quote**, depending on which template you would like to change. Your current template will be shown.
4. Click **Next Template** (or **Previous Template**) to scroll through the different templates.
**TIP:** As you browse, look closely at the templates and consider your business needs. Beyond the design differences, different templates may or may not include:
* Breakdowns by individual line items (materials or services)
* Material and labour subtotals
* Total amount only
* Bank account details
* Detailed job description
**To set a new template:**
2. Once you have found a template you like, click **Use this template**.
3. Scroll down to *Template Settings*. Different templates will have different available built-in fields, such as payment terms or notes to customers.
4. Fill in the fields, then click **Save Template Settings**.
Your new template is now active!
**TIP:** Templates can also be modified, but it's easiest to start from the template that most closely meets your needs. For more information, see [Modifying invoice and quote templates](/help-center/advanced-setup/invoice-quote-templates/how-to-modify-invoice-or-quote-templates).
